Longyearbayn - 12 July 2015

Well, we came into town, being Sunday not much open until after 10am and absolutely no-one around except cruise passengers!  Longyearbayn is rather a bleak looking place, would look so much better covered in snow.  There are snowmobiles everywhere which is the usual form of transport here.  We did go to the church service and it was so lovely.  Obviously in Norwegian language but we were able to sing Amazing Grace as words in English as well.  We stayed on for coffee and cake, met the priest and her brother - both Danish - and they are working here for the summer.  He plays the violin and is an accomplished musician as well as being an opera singer in Copenhagen.  

We're going to the museum now.
